Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about shopping with Umber & Oak, ordering and delivery. Please get in touch if your question isn’t answered below.
-
The Umber & Oak collection consists primarily of thoughtfully sourced, pre-owned pieces chosen for their quality, character and timeless appeal. From time to time, the collection may also include unused or newer pieces that complement the Umber & Oak aesthetic.
The age, condition and any known details of each item will be clearly described in its individual product listing.
-
Many of our pieces have lived a life before arriving at Umber & Oak. Gentle wear, markings, patina and natural variations are often part of what gives each piece its individual character.
We carefully inspect and photograph every item. Any notable chips, cracks, repairs or other significant imperfections will be shown and described in the product listing. Please review all photographs and information carefully before purchasing.
-
Most Umber & Oak pieces are individual finds. Once an item has sold, we may not be able to source the same piece again.
Occasionally, we may have a matching pair, set or more than one similar item. This will always be stated in the product listing.
-
We photograph every piece in natural light wherever possible to represent its colour and character as accurately as we can.
Some listings may include a styled image to inspire how the piece could look in your home. While these images may be lightly edited to create a consistent Umber & Oak aesthetic, we take care to ensure they remain true to the item.
Please also refer to the additional product photographs, which show the piece from multiple angles. As colours can vary slightly between screens and devices, there may be minor differences in how an item appears in person.
-
Orders are carefully prepared and dispatched within 2–4 business days of payment being received.
You will receive a confirmation email once your order has been sent. Delivery time frames begin from the date of dispatch and may vary depending on your location and the courier network.
-
A flat-rate shipping charge is applied at checkout for standard orders within New Zealand.
Because our pieces vary considerably in size, weight and fragility, particularly large, heavy or unusually delicate items may have a different delivery charge. Where this applies, it will be clearly stated in the product listing.
At this stage, Umber & Oak ships within New Zealand only.
-
Local collection is not currently available. All orders are carefully packaged and sent using our selected delivery service.
Should collection become available in the future, this option will be shown at checkout.
-
Please choose carefully, as we do not offer returns or exchanges for a change of mind.
Because many Umber & Oak pieces are pre-owned, and may show signs of age, we encourage you to read the full description and review all photographs before purchasing.
Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or other applicable consumer law. Please contact us if an item is faulty, materially different from its description, or does not meet the guarantees required by law.
